About Dr. Schofield (and Ruby)

Dr. Amber Schofield is an Oklahoma native who moved to Oregon to hike the beautiful trails. She has been an emergency veterinarian since graduating from Oklahoma State University in 2016. Her best hiking buddy is a squatty little Bully dog named Ruby. They like to travel all over the Pacific Northwest in their camper van hiking trails, and soaking in the mountains.

Dr. Schofield became interested in mobile veterinary medine as a way to better connect with clients and their pets. In-home veterinary care offers a more connected and stress-free enviroment than a noisy, choatic clinic. Pets are more relaxed and Dr. Schofield can observe them as they are in their own environment. Clients have a more enjoyable experience as they are comfortable in their own homes. Dr. Schofield is able to sit down and take the time to practice what is known as "slow medicine" in the veterianry house call community.

Ruby is Dr. Schofield's little bug and her best hiking buddy. She is a very fearful and reactive dog, despite extensive behavioral training and medication. From learning how to give Ruby a good life, Dr. Schofield has developed a special interested in helping pets like Ruby that do not do well in a clinic setting.  Mobile medicine can be great for these kinds of fearful pets. Through pre-visit sedation, Fear-Free handling techniques, and being very patient with these patients, they can get the veteriary care they deserve through mobile medicine.
